H.A.L.T. is a team headed by animal rights & human rights lawyer activist, Ana Maria Casadiego.
St Augustine of Hippo said: “An unjust law is no law at all.” We made it our mission to work for a just law: One that by recognizing the sentience of non-human animals, includes these in the sphere of justice.
The lawyers of the team are entirely dedicated to legal and academic research, specialists in animal law on an
interdisciplinary basis. We currently collaborate with jurists, universities, NGOs, and governmental bodies, both
nationally and internationally, in the analysis and investigation of legal cases and the preparation of legal and
academic reports on animal protection.
Out of the public view H.A.L.T activists help with the rescue of animals and the empowering of citizens, teaching them how to submit complaints and to report animal abuse.
H.A.L.T is against the oppression and exploitation of any sentient being. Whether it is human or no-human.
Great news from HALT!
Ana Maria Casadiego and Mariana Montero, legal representatives in HALT, were awarded last 6th October for the best scholar paper in the “VI Brazilian Congress and III Latin- American Congress of Bioethics and Animal Law”.
The winning article is entitled: “The Political Turn: from Welfarism and Abolitionism to Contractualism and Animal Justice”.
We hope this article can inspire a paradigm shift in the animal movement.
Congratulations!!!
